Being the winner of 3 of the prestigious AA Award for Best Leisure Hotel in Southern Africa, guests can imagine what to expect at this Garden Route lodge accommodation. A warm and friendly atmosphere, beautifully built wooden cabins and breathtaking views of unspoilt surroundings welcomes you to this luxurious lodge.
The history of the Tsitsikamma Lodge goes back decades, to a time when woodcutters frequented the farm, hauling their loads to the small harbour at the mouth of the Storms River for export. In 1936, the Andersons bought the property and soon turned it into a thriving business. They started a post office, a bank agency, a grocery store, a café and a service station. The Roadhouse that was built offered 8 rooms, a bath and a 'long drop' to the weary traveler. This Roadhouse became known as Pine View Motel.
After many years the area was taken over Mr. Payne but by the time he died, the property had gone into serious decline. It was in 1981 when 5 young entrepreneurs bought Pine View. However, by the end of the first year only one of these entrepreneurs, Vossie Vorster, remained. He worked hard to return the motel to its former glory.
Vossie mostly accommodated school children on educational tours and over the next 15 years, the lodge managed to become a 2 star establishment. The still present Honeymoon Suite with its luxurious spa bath became a favourite with newlyweds. Staying at this Garden Route lodge accommodation is indeed a truly magical holiday experience.
