Knysna is located on the Garden Route, 65km (40 miles) from George which is the nearest airport for scheduled flights from other major national cities.
Plane arrival
Plettenberg Bay is the nearest airport for air-charters; it is 35km (22 miles) from Knysna. There is also an airstrip available close by. For those arriving or departing at George Airport, a travelling time of 1 hour out of season should be allowed between Knysna and George. This time increases to 1hr 45 minutes during peak season (December / January holidays and the July Oyster Festival). The Rex Hotel can arrange airport transfers on request.
Car Arrival
Knysna lies on the N2 highway between Cape Town (500km / 311 miles) and Port Elizabeth (280km / 174 miles). Travelling from Cape Town, take the main road into Knysna and turn right into Grey Street. The Rex Hotel is situated at the bottom of Grey Street on the right hand side and just 150 metres from the Knysna waterfont.
